Why are Republicans hopeful their party will gain Congressional seats during the
2010 midterm elections? What factors might disrupt these hopes for the Republicans?

Republicans are hopeful they will get their party to win Congressional seats during the 2010 midterm election because currently all the Branches are Democrat majority / Democrat owned. This means it is very easy for the Democrats to pass there legislator. The Republicans want to get a foot hold to slow down the Democrats progress / get there own say. They might not get there hopes because a lot of there candidates are crazy. If the Democrats who are running also win there the Republicans will have to wait for the presidential elections.

The Tea Party feels Congress is not listing to the people. They want smaller governemnt and were created to change this. The Tea Party was created with Republican money so I feel its the Republicans trying to resell there package again because they cant under a Republican title because Bush ruined that. The impact is its taking votes away from the Democratic and Republican partys meaning they probably wont win much but there harming the other partys. This may be what the Republicans want.

Prop 19

Prop 19 is facing huge opposition. The campaign doesn't have enough money for proper advertisement so they are not getting enough votes. Before it was expected that the vote would pass but now that its geting closer to voting time things are not looking good for the bill. 51% to 35% of voters when polled said they would not vote for it.

I dont know what to think about Prop 19. How I feel is people are going to get weed one way or another so we may as well make it legal, safe, and efficant. We blow millions and millions of dollars on stoping it when we could control it and make money. I think if any thing should be illegal it would be alcohol. Alcohol is a far more addictive and destructive drug. The two substances in our country that kill the most are the two that are legal.

What I dont like

One thing that i really hate about how our government works is political parties. I dont like the concept of political parties. People have a few Republican values so they register as Republicans and take on all there values just because there Republican ideas. Same for Democrats. Why cant you support the War and want Health Care. There is no inbetween and I feel like people do certain things and believe certain things just because thats what there party thinks. If we got rid of parties every one could just belive in what they want to and not be swayed to certain sides. There is no functioning gray zone

Also because of political parties our country gets stuck on things. Its a constant tug o war and when ever we make progress the other party gets pissed and pulls us back. Our country is waaaay to large to be represented by just two parties. There needs to be more
